Sayre's 120th Birthday

The 120th anniversary of the January 27, 1891, Incorporation of Sayre Borough was held in the Sayre Historical Society Museum on Saturday, January 29 from 10 am to 4 pm. Sayre’s “120th Birthday Party,” complete with balloons, decorated birthday cake and beverages for all visitors, was celebrated by proclamations from dignitaries: Sayre Mayor Denny Thomas, Bradford County Commissioner Mark Smith, and State Representative Tina Picket. Bradford County Commissioner Douglas McClinko and Sayre Borough Council President Henry Farley were also in attendance.

Historical Society President Ken Bracken led the visitors in a rendition of “Happy Birthday” to Sayre, introduced the guests and welcomed the visitors and many children.
A copy of the document proclaiming the incorporation was displayed along the side of the proposed Stephens/Redman gallery to be completed this year. Among the signers was the name of Sayre’s founder, Howard Elmer.
