The “dream” of completing the museum for all of Sayre came to fruition on Thursday, July 21, with the dedication and opening of the second gallery, the Stephens Redman Gallery. Despite the sweltering heat and with dignitaries and members of the Stephens and Redman families present, President Ken Bracken led the festivities on the lawn of the museum to dedicate and open the gallery “telling” the Lehigh Valley Railroad story in Sayre. Among the speakers was David Stephens, who donated the funds to develop the gallery, and who related his family’s story of their long involvement with the railroad that caused the development of Sayre and the surrounding area. Also among the speakers were State Representative Tina Pickett and Sayre Borough Council President Henry Farley, both of whom congratulated the Society for this accomplishment. Also in attendance were the museum designers, Linda Norris and Drew Harty. The gallery was then open to viewing and received a glowing reception from the attendees. Refreshments were served. |
